The new Mudgee Art Gallery rises from the landscape like a contemporary sculpture, set within a township renowned for its vineyards and rolling hills near the Cudgegong River. Designed by BKA Architecture following a competitive tender, the project combines the refurbishment and expansion of the Victorian-era Cudgegong Chambers with a new, state-of-the-art cultural facility. The precinct now brings together a tourism hub, main exhibition gallery, café, and flexible community spaces, creating a vibrant focal point in the heart of town.
Heritage character has been carefully retained and woven into a modern architectural language, ensuring the building feels both familiar and fresh. Inside, the material palette supports a calm, contemplative atmosphere, framing art, landscape views, and community life in equal measure.
Our
Contribution
We supplied perforated timber acoustic panels in a warm Burnie Blackwood-style finish alongside a clean white finish to support excellent sound absorption throughout the gallery. Working closely with BKA Architecture and Hutchinson Builders from early design through to installation, we procured and detailed bespoke panel solutions, including precise skylight cut-outs and junctions, to ensure the architectural intent was realised flawlessly. Our involvement helped align acoustic performance, visual impact, and buildability in this highly refined interior.
