The Red Earth Arts Precinct is a landmark cultural destination in Karratha, bringing together arts, learning, and community life for the City of Karratha and the broader Pilbara region.

The multi-purpose facility includes a 450+ seat performing arts theatre, rooftop cinema, outdoor amphitheatre, staff administration spaces, and a state-of-the-art library that celebrates and preserves local history.

Designed as a vibrant community hub, the precinct supports everything from live performance and film to festivals, civic events, and quiet study.

Its interiors have been carefully considered to balance visual impact with comfort and usability, ensuring every space feels welcoming, contemporary, and connected to its context. From the moment patrons enter, they are met with a strong sense of place and a building that clearly celebrates creativity and community.

Our
Contribution

We supplied high-performance perforated acoustic ceiling panels that form a defining feature of the main public spaces. Working closely with Peter Hunt Architects, we procured and coordinated an acoustic solution that aligned with the project’s bold aesthetic vision while meeting rigorous performance and compliance requirements under the Building Code of Australia. The result is a ceiling treatment that is both visually striking and acoustically refined.

What We Procured

  • Acoustic wall & ceiling systems
  • MDF panels
  • Indigenous design panels
Materials were manufactured through our partner network, drawing on more than 50 years of Australian experience in engineered acoustic and architectural systems.

Technical Requirements Supported

The project required the following:
  • Fire ratings and documentation
  • Acoustic performance requirements
  • ESG, sustainability and Green Star
  • Supply Nation certification
  • Panel layouts, prototyping, or pre-installation coordination
Myee Collective coordinated the documentation required for Group fire ratings, acoustic performance, sustainability certifications and delivery sequencing to support project timelines.

Community
Outcomes

The completed precinct delivers a comfortable and immersive experience for audiences, performers, and visitors by managing reverberation and enhancing sound clarity across its theatres and public spaces. This improves the quality of performances, events, and everyday use, making the building more enjoyable and accessible for all members of the community. By combining architectural expression with robust acoustic performance, the project supports a thriving cultural life in Karratha and the Pilbara, encouraging people to gather, learn, and participate in the arts within a space designed to serve them truly.
