Surrounded by a visually spectacular garden that reflects national guidelines for the appropriate design for bushfire-prone areas, stands the Bushfire Centre of Excellence.

Designed by Site Architecture and built by Perkins Builders, the facility is the first of its kind in Australia. As a result, no definitive brief was provided by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services. Site Architecture took this as an opportunity to create a flexible, adaptable facility that meets the needs of various user groups and potential future uses.

Spaces designed for flexible use require high-performing acoustic treatments to ensure they remain suitable for a wide range of audiences, events and uses.

Our
Contribution

DecorZen was used throughout the main foyer in a SmartLook Hoop Pine finish. Absorbing up to 88% of incidental noise, the panels bring a sense of serenity and tranquillity to the foyer area.DecorImage was used on the eye-catching eaves on the external roof. A DecorImage finish was selected to match the interior Hoop Pine finish, creating continuity from inside to out.

With high-performance characteristics such as moisture resistance and non-combustibility, DecorImage's fibre-cement substrate made it the ideal choice for external areas. With the ability to match the internal finish, there was no compromise on aesthetics.

What We Procured

  • Acoustic wall & ceiling systems
  • Fibre cement panels
  • MDF Panels
Most materials were manufactured through our partner network, drawing on more than 50 years of Australian experience in engineered acoustic and architectural systems.

Technical Requirements Supported

The project required the following:
  • Fire ratings and documentation
  • Acoustic performance requirements
  • ESG, sustainability or Green Star/ISCA criteria
  • Moisture resistance requirements
  • Panel layouts, prototyping, or pre-installation coordination
Myee Collective coordinated the documentation required for Group fire ratings, acoustic performance, sustainability certifications and delivery sequencing to support project timelines.

Community
Outcomes

This first-of-its-kind emergency services facility called for flexible, future-ready spaces, and Myee Collective worked closely with the project team to supply acoustic and facade solutions that support both performance and comfort. By matching internal and external finishes and prioritising safety, durability, and sound quality, we helped create a cohesive community hub that will serve diverse users for years to come.
